Friday prayer is one of the most important socio-political institutions that have been established by Islam as a source for generating meaning to the socio-religious life of Muslims, hence a source for power. The aim of this article is to explain the political functions of Friday prayers with an emphasis on the concept of soft power. Accordingly, the main question of the study is “What is the influence of Friday prayer on the soft power of Muslims’ political community?”. For answering this fundamental question that is pertinent in the area of Islamic political sociology, we adopted a descriptive-analytic method to investigate the concept of soft power. Considering the theoretical and historical relationship between Friday prayer and politics, we then explained the political functions of Friday prayer from the perspective of its influence on the production and emanation of the Muslim community’s power. Based on the findings of this research, Friday prayer -depending on its content and conditions - can be influential in at least three groups of soft power resources: political legitimization; generating social capital; improving religiosity and vision
