The main purpose of this article is to review and critically evaluate the book "Holy Ignorance: When Religion and Culture Part ways" written by Olivier Roy, one of the followers of the sociological thought of Islamism. The current research, using the method of six-step methodical criticism (Abedi Jafari et al., 2016), while expressing the strengths and weaknesses of this work, tried to challenge this basic idea of the author, i.e., "separation of religion from culture" and by listing the violations which lead to the true face of Islamic fundamentalism and prevent religious dogmatism. The findings showed that despite some positive points, this work has many weak points, among which are his incorrect perception of religious assimilation, especially regarding the Shia religion, simplifying the analysis of Islam in Europe and Muslim countries; neglecting all the positive aspects of religion in interaction with culture; magnifying the role of secularization in religious societies; the unjustifiability of claiming the separation of religion from culture as well as the commodification of religious signs, and the incorrect analysis of Islamic fundamentalism and political Islam.
