This article is extracted from a research project and is an endeavor to present a religion-based theory on secularization. This article is built on the findings of an earlier stage of the same project, which adopted inductive method for eliciting from within religious texts the factors affecting the emergence of secularization. The method of this paper is theoretical reflection on the logical and concrete relationships between the elicited factors. The result is a saturated theory of secularization that is intended to contain all the explanatory factors and clarify the inherent logic behind their relationships. Alongside determining the essential and periphery factors of secularization, attempts are made to understand the defining factors in this regards and, on the whole, five probable patterns and for Iran specially a hybrid pattern based on indolence and sexual hedonism were recognized.

The eightieth decade hosted a novel trend in Iranian television; that of the emergence of supernatural genre. The genre, however, did not reach its culmination and withered away soon. One of the challenges in front of the productions in this genre is maintaining an acceptable conformity with Islamic doctrines. Accordingly, the present article studies the representation of the relation between human and evil as one of the main sub-themes within the broader them of the relation of human beings with the supernatural, focusing on the case of “Eghma” (Coma) TV series. The aim of the article is to answer the question “to what extend does the narrative logic of the series conform with the Islamic account of the relationship?”.
This is a descriptive-analytical case study that relies on documentary method and narrative analysis on the Propp, Greimas and Larivaille models. It first deals with the theoretic principles of the relation of human with evil by the documentary study of the Islamic sources. It then goes to the narrative analysis in order to analyze the plot of the relation in the bigger storyline. At the end, it takes the findings of the two previous descriptive-analytical procedures for the comparative-critical analyzing of them according to the Islamic accounts. The study presents a universal pattern for the elements and the narrative logic of representing the relation of human and evil.

In Islamic Iran, rationality has played a major role in the thoughts of Religious scholars (ulama). The political thought of Mohammad Hossein Naeini during the Constitutional era, as found in his book “Tanbih al-Ummah” (Awakening of the People), demonstrates his political vision about realities like parliament, and represents a convergence between the views of traditionalists and those of the modernists in their comprehension of religion in the realm of politics, hence his place in political theorization. In this article, we adopt the theory of Thomas Spragens to evaluate Naeini’s “Tanbih ul-Ummah wa Tanzih ul-Millah” with a descriptive-analytical approach and to explain and describe the principles and aspects of Naeini’s religious rationality with regard to the urgency of parliament and the rule of Islam as a new structure in the political sphere of the Constitutionalism era.

This article based on the assumption that the medieval Islamic intellectual trend developed because of its reliance on a rational system, states that the thinking system of Amir al-mumenin Ali is one of the greatest sources of critical thinking in the early days of Islam. Therefore, the article examines the place of thinking in Islamic worldview, the status of thinking in the Holy Qur’an, the status of critical thinking in Islam, the principles of critical thinking in the view of Imam Ali, and the thinking-based educating methods in Islamic training system. The findings show that one of the educative methods that improves thinking and rationality is the reliance on sensual cognition along with thinking and reasoning. Based on such a method, the teacher must take the path with the pace of the student to confront the student with elements of knowledge and wisdom. Reason is permeated and instilled by the attainment of wisdom, so growth of reason rests on the providence for such principles.
